New Year + New Brides-to-Be = Fabulous Planning FUN

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

It's Officially 2012 and with that comes a whole new year of possibilities!

After about a million years (just kidding, not quite that many) in the wedding industry we have noticed a continuing trend..... Over the Holidays MANY MANY MANY couples go from twitter-pated and in love- to engaged and ready to plan their wedding. The holidays are the perfect time to get engaged. The magic in the air, new dusting of snow on the lawn, the possibility of that tiny square box being wrapped and hidden under the tree or in the bottom of a unsuspecting stocking- hung above the fireplace with care. Men just can't help taking the perfect opportunity to really surprise the gal they love...
So once January 1st rolls around the ladies, donning their newest diamond sparkly, are ready to dig in and start planning the wedding they have always dreamed of..... but where to begin?? Well here on the Forevermore Events BLOG of course! Not only do we plan, design and coordinate fabulous events year round, but we strive to bring the latest ideas, trends and how to's to our devoted readers and even brides just passing through!

Last year we posted about a few things that can help get you started on the planning process:
check out-

A Quick & Helpful National Wedding Budget Guide to get a idea on a wedding budget

Our Pantones Spring 2012 Color Report to help you choose colors and styles

AND a post about Hiring a Pro: How to Choose the Best Wedding Vendors

All great articles that can get you started on planning the BIG DAY!

Next we would suggest signing up for accounts at PINTEREST and  POLYVORE

I know that both of those words sound like gibberish, but belive me- if you havent allready, you will fall in love with them immediately!

PINTEREST~ Is a online community of Inspiration Boards. You can name a board such as "Wedding Dresses" or "Favor Ideas" Then as you scour the internet for ideas and find things you love you can "PIN" them right to your Pinterest Boards... and its as easy as that! Pinterest will track all of the web addresses, where you found the pictures/ideas and give you a nice and tidy way to find them again. No writing down a billion web addresses or overloading your computer with bookmarks and folders and files, just one simple site that collects the best of the web for you~ You can follow other peoples boards, tag pictures with key words and search for things you are looking for. It is AMAZING!!

Check out FOREVERMORE EVENTS PINTEREST BOARDS- for an idea of how it works

LOVE it and Want an Invitation to Pinterest?? Email us today and we will send you one: Laura@forevermoreevents.com

POLYVORE~ Is also an online community of STYLE BOARDS. It sounds like the same thing, but its very different- On polyvore you can create actual style boards. Polyvore has a huge library of designer clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories etc. all ready for you to drag-resize-drop and design the perfect look for you, your bridesmaids, groomsmen... you name it! How wonderful would it be to be able to sit down and plan what you want each person in your bridal party to wear head to toe... then send it to them? It makes coordination and communicating over distances SO much easier-

Here is a POLYVORE Style Board, go ahead and check it out, click the image and it will send you to the polyvore style board... see how it all works... It is amazing!

I dont know about you, but having a organized, succinct image/board to look at and follow makes things so much easier.... and less stressful. No chance of crazy bridesmaid showing up in HOT PINK when she has a specific picture of the dusty rose dresses she can choose from LOL!

So to all of the NEWLY ENGAGED.... Congratulations!

Choosing a Color Pallette

Now that you are getting married, you might be thinking what colors to choose for your wedding theme. Some brides can creatively combine and pair different colors that looks fabulous together, with out any help.... But for the rest of us using a color wheel can be a great help when deciding on your wedding color scheme. Below is a great tool for anyone knee deep in the planning process.

08-ideas-on-wedding-colors-and-combos-to-set-the-style-of-your-event

There are basically two categories a color can fit into: Warm and Cool. Your choice of color will have an effect on the atmosphere and mood of your wedding and set the style of your entire event. So limit your basic colors to two or three so as not to look too jumbled. Use a mix of subdued colors for an elegant look.

Don't be afraid to use color! Color choices are important, and will come up over and over again during the planning process, so think long and hard before settling into a specific color palette.
When choosing colors:
~ Take into account what season you are getting married in, because certain colors and will be more available to you during different times of the year. I.e pastels will be more available in spring, and dark gem tones may be easier to find in the fall.
~ Think about your flower choices, if you have your heart set on certain flowers talk with your planner and florist about what colors are available and what tones they will be complementary with.
~ Think about what your bridal party will be wearing. Certain colors do not photograph well on certain skin tones. Maybe ask your photographers feedback, and think about possibly choosing an accent color in a photo friendly tone. Blacks, Pewter/Grays, Browns and Gold/Champagnes look amazing on a variety of skin tones.
~Think about your theme (If you have one) and ask yourself what will work with the elements you want to include in your wedding.

Still can't decide???? If all else fails.... go with what speaks to your personality...literally!
Paper Source  has provided us with an extremely helpful (and down-loadable) color chart. Here’s what your choice of color speaks about your personality.....

Wedding Advice Wednesday: Tangled Lanterns?

Calling all Brides-to-be....
Do you have a question about your upcoming event?
Curious about how to handle a sticky situation?
Need to know the best way to word your invitations?
Want tips on saving money?
Forevermore Events is here for you!

Each Wednesday we will be devoting our Wednesday Post to
Wedding Q & A
Ask us anything! and we will post the answers right here on our BLOG

This weeks Wedding Advice Wednesday: How to Light up your Wedding

How many of our readers have seen the new Disney Movie TANGLED?  I absolutely fell in love with it. So when I opened my inbox and read a recent email from a reader asking how to implement the "lantern scene" into her wedding I was so excited to help bring her dream to reality!

What a memorable way to finish a romantic evening with family and friends than by releasing several dozen delicate paper lanterns into the night sky.

This weeks Wedding Advice Wednesday: How to Light up your Wedding

Q- Dear Laura, My wedding is coming up this fall and shortly after I got engaged, my fiance and I took my nieces to see Tangled. We BOTH loved it! My fiance even wanted to see it a second time. We absolutely fell in love with the scene at the end when the whole city releases the paper lanterns. We are having a small reception on the beach near his home town in San Diego with his relatives, and would LOVE to implement the paper lanterns idea into our wedding. SO...my question is where do I start?? I have no idea where to get those lanterns or if there is a way we can make them? We don't have a lot of time, but are willing to  "do it ourselves " if necessary. You are always so good at these things! I hope you have some ideas for us??

~In Love with Lanterns!~ Raylynne
Southern Utah & San Diego

A- My Dearest Raylynne, I've always believed that one of the beautiful purposes of weddings is putting your love out there in the world, spreading those extra good feelings to everyone else. Releasing lanterns at the end of your reception is a fabulous idea! Tangled became an instant classic in our home, we absolutely HAD to buy it the day it came out on DVD.  So fear not! I know it seems like a huge task to take on, but we have several easy solutions for you, both for purchase and DIY.

The lanterns are commonly known as "Sky Lanterns" or "Wish Lanterns"  Sky lanterns are common in many Asian countries at festivals and events. They're quiet, beautiful and symbolize your troubles and worries floating away. Guests can also write wishes, thoughts or special messages and watch them float away to the heavens.

Why fork over hundreds or even thousands of dollars on fireworks? Sky lanterns quietly and gracefully fill the sky with light while climbing slowly and gently into the nighttime sky like mini hot air balloons.

Here are a few FAQ's we have received from a couple of our readers

Will the Sky Lanterns harm the environment?
No, not at all. Sky Lanterns are made with 100% biodegradable materials. Once the Sky Lantern wick has burned out the lantern will float back down to the ground.

Are they safe to use?
Yes, Sky Lanterns are completely safe. But they do involve the use of a naked flame so please ensure you familiarize yourself with the safety instructions prior to using them.

How do I light them?
It’s best to use two people for this, one to hold out the edges of the lantern and one to light the small cardboard square in the center of the lantern. It works best if you light each corner of the cardboard wick while the lantern is upright.

What are the best conditions to use them in?
Sky Lanterns can be used in a variety of different environments; however the conditions they perform best in are still weather, clear skies and large open spaces. They can be used in the rain if it’s only light or drizzling but it is advised not to use them in heavy downpours.

Can my children use them?
It is strongly advised that children are not left unsupervised with Sky Lanterns as flames and matches/lighters are involved. Children should not attempt to light the lanterns or launch a lantern by themselves under any circumstances.

Are Sky Lanterns known by any other names?
Sky Lanterns are also known as -wish lanterns, glo lanterns, sky candle, Chinese lanterns or Thai lanterns in different parts of the world.

HOW DO THEY WORK?
Sky lanterns are large 100% biodegradable and flame-retardant tissue paper balloons. An easy to light wax paper fuel cell at the bottom fills the sky lantern up with hot air. When filled they gracefully rise into the air, floating for as long as 20 minutes and not coming back down until they have completely burned out. Even on a perfectly clear night they will float out of sight.

While Sky lanterns can be used day or night, they are best flown at night when their light can easily be followed through the darkened sky. Light several at a time for a gorgeous evening display that will have your guests blown away.

DIY
If you are daring enough to take on a big DIY project I have included a link to step-by-step instructions below. A few things to keep in mind. Make sure you use the appropriate products. You will need to use flame-retardant and bio-degradable materials. Also, don't get discouraged! It may take a few tries before you get the hang of putting them together.

For step by step instructions check out the links below:

EHow Step by Step Instructions~ Click Here

As always we would suggest hiring a wedding planner and arrange for them to have a few extra hired hands on deck to help guests with this type of undertaking. It will take several extra workers to help organize this type of event. They will need to help hand out lanterns, light wicks and announce the release of the sky lanterns.  Having hired help will make the end of the evening go smoothly and  stress-free.

We love the idea of releasing these wish lanterns into the night sky. To add a special touch to the Lantern Ceremony, have your guests right wishes or good thoughts onto the lanterns before releasing them. Or, even monogram your initials and wedding date onto the lanterns using a stencil before putting them together. That way when they are lit up the whole night sky will embrace your new life together as husband and wife.

We hope that this has helped answer your questions and give you a direction to move in. We would LOVE to help you any way we can with your event. Send us updates and pictures of your event, and we will post a follow-up right her on our Blog.
Best of luck on your upcoming celebration. Everyone here at Forevermore Events is here to help if you need it! Take Care and CONGRATULATIONS!
With all our love!
Sincerely,
Laura Stagg and the Forevermore Events Team

Inspirational SPRING Wedding!

Is there anything more perfect than the season of Spring?  Cherry blossoms, tulips, the smell of fresh cut grass ...  and I know what you are thinking..... Spring in Southern Utah doesnt last very long, but when I came across this breath-taking event that was featured on STYLE UNVEILED, I couldn't stop myself from sharing it with our readers. The style and look of this event could easily be altered to fit a Summer or Fall Wedding. A few simple changes like using darker tones for the flowers, changing out the white for rich-luxe linens and possibly adding matte gold or pewter into the mix could transform it into a mid-summer-night dream. Over-all the modern lines, clean arrangements and romantic atmosphere really stood out to me as a perfect way to create an unforgettable event!

Wedding Advice Wednesday: Family Stress?

Calling all Brides-to-be....

Forevermore Events is here for you!

Wedding Q & A

This weeks Wedding Advice Wednesday: Family

When it comes to weddings dealing with the family, family-to-be, and the relatives that come along with them, it can become a tricky balancing act. Who to invite-who NOT to invite, and what to let them help with can definitely have an effect on the outcome of your event. You may feel like you are walking a tightrope most of the time- but fear not- you are not alone! It is common problem among Brides-to-be, and we have a few tips on help you survive the rocky waters.

Q- I have a VERY big family, and they ALL want to HELP with our wedding. Even though we all grew up together our styles and tastes are worlds apart. How can I let them help without losing the control and overall look that I want for my wedding? I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but i am nervous that it will turn into a  "too many cooks in the kitchen "  sort of situation. Please help!

~One in a Dozen~ Avery
Southern Utah

A- Avery, First off I want to say that I feel your pain, Family stress is VERY common when planning a wedding! Don't lose hope, there are many ways to keep the loved-ones appeased, the In-laws at bay and the over-all "drama" low.

First, I would suggest hiring a wedding planner. A professional wedding planner can not ONLY help with these stressful situations, but can also keep an editing eyes on the details of the event and act as a "scape-goat" when you don't want Aunt Margaret knitting matching socks for the groomsmen... i.e...
"Sorry Aunt Margaret, the WEDDING PLANNER has already arranged for the groomsmen's head to toe attire" (catch my drift?) There are MANY reasons to hire a professional planner, but having an experienced MEDIATOR is definetly a big bonus when you need a neutral party in your corner.

If hiring a professional is not in the cards we have a few suggestions to help you plan a low stress event. When the family starts calling with exclamations of "I want to help!, and please let us do something!!"  Kindly thank them for their generosity, tell them you will get back to them soon and then make a mental note of who has asked to help. Never, agree to something on the spot.... it may save you an awkward conversation later on.

Next, look at your Event TO-DO list carefully and see if there are items that you don't mind family helping with. Perhaps you hit the jackpot and your Aunt is a professional florist, or your Uncle happens to be a world-renowned photographer. In that case it is easy to let them offer up their talents, and possible save you a bit of green in the process. For the rest of us, here are a few ideas of where and when you can let family help without losing control or the overall vision for your event.

1. Compiling and Addressing Invitations- Addressing 300+ Invitations is time consuming, but if 2 or 3 family members join in then it can be a quick and memorable experience.
2. Help Setting up for the Ceremony or Reception. 10+ tables and 100+ chairs will go a lot faster when you get the loving troops involved.
3. Signs and Graphic Design- If you have a family member that is computer savvy, enlist them to help with making signs for the reception. Getting a little help with making sign for the favor station, buffet tags, restroom signs and even a just married sign for the get-away-car can help save you time stress and money. Most professional graphic designers charge anywhere from $45-$95 dollars and hour.
4. Putting together a Music Playlist I don't know about you, but i am a firm believer in the fact that music can make-or break an event.Do you have a brother, sister, niece, nephew, cousin etc that is permanently attached to their ipod? They may be the perfect candidate to help you put together a cool and eclectic list of music to give the DJ.
5.Baking treats for the Favor Station- Having a few talented Cousins and Aunts bake several dozen of their favorite cookies can be a fun way to involve the masses. Turn it into a featured station during the event by filling various jars with the baked goodies, and attaching cute labels the bakers name to the oversized jars. Handing out copies of the recipes as part of the favor can be a great way to showcase the family members and tie the whole idea together. (here are a few images for inspiration)

The "family" element can be an interesting hurdle to jump, but with a bit of thought and careful planning, you can keep your loved-ones involved and have the much needed help and support that you will need when planning a wedding or event. Best of luck! If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us today!
Sincerely,
Laura and the Forevermore Events Team

Monday Inspiration: Garden Wedding on a Budget

The Decor: Gardens are so romantic; they are the perfect location for a wedding. Gardens also make decorating really easy and less expensive because they are already so beautiful with all their flowers and greenery. Add a simple arch to tie in the wedding atmosphere!

The Food: You’ll save money on food by hosting an afternoon teaparty, rather than a full dinner meal. Serve cucumber sandwiches, quiches, fruit, and other classic tea party food. Fill pretty bowls with berries and set a bowl at every table.

The Dessert: Every good tea party has a plethora of pastries and sweet desserts. Petit fours, mini tarts, and french macaroons are great choices that not only taste good but look beautiful, not to mention a decadent cake, beautifully decorated and topped with a vintage crown.

The Fashion: To get your dream dress on a budget, shop at sites like PreOwned Wedding Dresses or Once Wed, where you can find dresses that have been worn just once at incredible savings. A big white sunhat would fit in with a teaparty theme perfectly–and would cost a lot less than a veil. The bride’s look would be complete with elegant lace gloves and shoes with rose details. For the bride’s bouquet, choose garden roses instead of peonies–they look very similar but cost so much less.

The bridesmaids could carry parasols or lace fans instead of bouquets. Let your bridesmaids choose their own dress to save stress and money. Each girl will look and feel good in a dress that complements her own body (just make sure that the colors, lengths, and styles look cohesive). Skip the tux rentals and put the groom and groomsmen in white shirts, suspenders, and khakis. Let them wear ties they already own, and they’ll save money too!

The Details: For the centerpieces, use teapots as vases and fill them with flowers.  Set the table with pretty mismatched china that you collect from thrift stores during your engagement. Using a gold pen, write the guest’s names on teacups that double as both placecards and personalized favors. On the guest table, decorate a gold birdcage with moss and flowers for a pretty cardbox. Use paper doilies to make envelopes for the invitations, petal cones, cupcake liners, and more–they’re so pretty and super inexpensive!

The Invitations: Love & Lavender designed a beautiful lace invitation suite to capture the personality of this garden wedding.
It is available to download for free here.

Wedding Advice Wednesday!

Calling all Brides-to-be....
Do you have a question about your upcoming event?

This weeks Wedding Advice Wednesday
Q- We want to have a cocktail style reception. We are hoping to have it at my parents home, because they have a gorgeous back yard. What is the best way to encourage our guests to stay and mingle, and not just leave after having refreshments??
~HELP~ Jenny
Saint George, UTAH
A- Jenny, That is a very good question!
The cocktail style reception is becoming very popular, and for good reason. It is a fun and casual way to style your reception, but the details to making it successful are crucial when it comes to the overall atmosphere. A backyard reception is a great location for this style of event. First, I would suggest using more "high-boy" tables instead of the traditional 5 foot round guest tables. They are about 3 feet in diameter and the perfect height for guests to stand and mingle.

Next, I would take a look at what you are planning to have for refreshments. Choosing to serve custom prepared cocktails or mocktails, or having signature drink stations and looking at the possibly of having unique appetizers and hors d'oeuvres passed throughout the reception area is a great way to keep guests entertained and excited for what will be coming next! Small bite-sized appetizers are perfect, anything that requires a fork will be too cumbersome to hold and walk around while mingling. For great ideas check out one of our recent posts... Wedding Trends: Mini Appe"teasers"  There are so many creative ways to delight the appetites of your guests with out going overboard!

Last, but certainly not least the music and atmosphere will really pull together the style and theme that you are going for. A great DJ wont cost you much, but the difference that they can make to your event is worth every penny! Once the music is taken care of I'd suggest talking with your planner about lighting for the event. The last thing you want to have happen is plan fabulous food, great tablescapes and areas for mingling then..... have it TOO dark to see anything! Up-lighting, lanterns, candles, strands of lights you name it. A prepared event planner will be able to offers you several solutions in a variety of price ranges.

Hope that helps answer your question as well as give you a few ideas of which direction to head in ! Don't forget to contact us for all of your event planning needs! From Full-coordination to Onsite Decoration to Tents and Rentals...we have it all!

Ultimate Bridal Showcase

For those of you that saw our "Bridal Show Booth Inspiration" Post
we wanted to follow-up with our viewers and show off how a little inspiration turned into a fabulous creation.

If you missed the Bridal Show it was quite the event, and we were so excited to meet and visit with all of the new "Brides-to-be"

Below are a few images from our Parisian Inspired bridal show booth. When planning our booth we wanted to create a romantic, "cafe'-like" atmosphere where the brides felt comfortable to come in, sit a while, and treat themselves to delicious focaccia sandwiches, cupcakes and lemonade from ~MARVELLOUS CATERING~

Custom Portfolio "Menus" we made for each bistro table so that are visiting guests could see the pictures from wedding and events from the past year.

Our Vintage pastry case, ( which is available for RENT )  was filled with delicious goodies from MARVELLOUS CATERING and Le Parry Pastry Shoppe.

Our guests were seated at delightful bistro tables, draped with adorable "petal-covered" linens, and snacked on sandwiches, cupcakes and tarts.

Our custom black and white awning was made on site... just for the occasion, and the trendy and chic accessories were graciously donated by TAIPAN TRADING.

The elegant floral arrangements were created just for us by the dedicated team at BLOOMERS, and we really feel like they brought the whole cafe' to life. Visit their website to see more of their amazing creations.

We were so happy to serve our Cafe' guests, sit and visit with them about their upcoming events, show them our portfolios and really spend a few moments getting to know them.
